A fantastic day of Inclusive badminton. Wow, what a great day. Today Power2inspire hosted its second annual Inclusive Badminton Festival. With great support from CADMuS, the Cambridge Adult Disability Multi-Sport Club and The Cambridge University Sports Centre, the P2i team of Steve, katie and Anne welcomed players, both disabled and non-disabled, to take part in an Inclusive festival to celebrate badminton.

We were joined by members of the England Para-Badminton squad, including James Binnie, Sean O’sullivan, Meva Singh Dhesi and Daniel Lee. It was wonderful to welcome back the fabulous Rachel Choong and also to meet Isaak Dalglish. Last year we had the pleasure of entertaining former Ladies Singles Champion Liz Cann and this year we had the pleasure of welcoming Ex England Internationals Caroline Westley and Julie Pike. We saw some fantastic badminton including a great mixed doubles match between Ex England International Caroline and current Para-badminton player Daniel Lee versus Ex England International Julie and current Para-badminton player Sean O’Sullivan.  How inclusive is that?

John joined us mid-morning and was soon in the thick of it playing matches with our good friend Dawn Catley from Active Essex and Paralympic Wheelchair basketball (yes, I did say basketball) champ Wendy Smith. The CADMuS folks made some lovely cakes which sold like…..well, like hot cakes! We also saw our good friends from Jakes Boost who brought along some samples of their fabulous foods and posed for photos with the badminton stars.

Later in the afternoon we were pleased to welcome Badminton England Chairman Derek Batchelor who popped in to say hello. Big, big thanks to Cambridge University Sports Centre staff and Karen, who dropped in to say Hi, even though it was her Birthday.
