Histon Recreation Ground
On Bank Holiday Monday 7 May 2018, Cambridge charity Power2Inspire is organising a new Super Sensory 1k event at Histon and Impington Recreation Ground as part of the annual Impington Festival of Running. The event celebrates inclusion and getting disabled and non-disabled people participating in physical activity together.
The “Super Sensory 1k” is being organised in partnership with the Friends of Histon and Impington Recreation Ground with registration opening at 10.30am with a start time of 11.30am.
It is the first event of its kind in Cambridge and the Eastern Region and will challenge preconceptions that disability and mainstream sport and physical activity must be kept separate. The event is open to all – young, old, disabled, non-disabled, walkers, runners, parents, carers, and siblings.
The 1km course around the perimeter of the recreation ground will have sensory stations along the route to include touch, taste, sight, hearing and smell.
Participants can walk, run, push or be pushed around the route so it will be ideal for people in a wheelchair as well as those with learning difficulties, autism or people with dementia. It’s also open to those people who are returning to exercise, those that don’t want to run/walk a 5km route or those people that want to do something different this year.

Online registration is encouraged to identify any additional needs and expected numbers but also to guarantee a disabled parking place on the day.
