We are passionate about enabling people of all abilities to play sport together. And we do so through:
- Power House Games;
- Festivals of Inclusive Sports;
- Inclusive Fundraising activities; and
- Inspirational talks from our founder John Willis.
Inspired by our founder’s experience of not being allowed to join in sport with his friends, Power2Inspire is committed to creating sporting opportunities for all. We enable everyone to play sport together.
We bring our Power House Games to you. We use a range of sports including sitting volleyball, new age kurling, visually impaired football, and boccia. These games are by their nature inclusive, but we also adapt them. We tailor the games to accommodate the numbers, timing, length and the sports, you want. Of course, if you have participants with special needs we will accommodate them. To read more about our Power House Games click here…
We have held nine successful Festivals of Inclusive Sport to date. On each separate occasion we have concentrated on one sport – so far badminton, golf, hockey, cycling and tennis, some more than once. Each time there has been truly inclusive sport, with all abilities playing together. For example, Rachel Choong, triple world para-badminton champion, was playing with youngsters, disabled players and novices; and Nick Thompson, Olympian with Britain’s hockey team, played in a fully inclusive match at Cambridge University’s ground. Inclusive Fundraising offers the opportunity to raise money for Power2inspire and your school or club and to experience the challenges faced by disabled people. We offer an Inclusive Kilometre using blindfolds, wheelchairs, walking sticks, whatever you can find; together we organise a sponsored walk, run, wheel – just propel yourself a kilometre! We are also delighted that so many supporters are keen to fundraise for us as they take on a sporting challenge. For example, 72 year old Don Hutchinson is competing at the World Ironman Championships for us – check out his Highway to Hawaii and support Don with a donation. If you are inspired to run, cycle, swim or wheel for us, we do secure charity places at events like the Cambridge Half Marathon, so do please get in touch via our Contact page.
